There are some amazing stories that come from comics – The Avengers or Deadpool are just a few examples. Some comics only use pictures and graphics to tell the story. We want to empower you to express your ideas and stories into a comic.
Choose one of the attached comic templates to bring your story to life! Think about how you want to define your character(s), setting, and plot. You may choose to include dialogue or use only pictures and graphics to tell your story. One thing to remember is your comic should have a beginning, middle, and end.
Use your imagination and creativity to create a fantastical new place, create a new hero, express a certain message, or all three!
STEPS:
1. Research: Have a favorite comic? Use it for inspiration or do an internet search and find one that interests you. Think about what you like or don’t like about it. Are there captions that provide narration? What story is the comic telling? Start writing down ideas for your own comic story.
2. Outline: Think about the story you want your comic to tell your readers. Where will your story take place? Who is in your story? What story to you want to tell? Create an outline or use a diagram to tie your story together.
3. Characters: What does your character or characters look like? Are they people, animals, aliens, or some other creature? How old are they? Are they tall or short? Take some time to think about their personalities too!
4. Setting: Where will your story take place? Maybe a new dimension, a different country, or somewhere in the United States. What time will you use for your story? Is this in the future, the past, or in the present?
5. Plot: Detail the sequence of events that will be in your comic (beginning, middle, and end). This could be an alien invasion or maybe it was just the first day of school. Think about what happens in your story and organize it.
Create: Ready…set…go! Now it’s time for you to create your comic.
