Photo Story

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Sometimes multiple or complex ideas can be conveyed using a single image more effectively than words can.

In this exercise, we are going to tell a story using a single photo. Choose one of the titles from the list. Think about what the title means to you. What memories does it bring to mind? Does it inspire a certain idea, place, or person? What story do you want to tell?

Now it’s time to tell your story. Once you have found your visual representation of your story, snap a photo!

Steps:

1. Choose a title: Select one title from the list (in Tips & Resources below).

2. Research: Do a Google search of the title to get inspiration. What does the title mean to you? Do you have a special memory that comes to mind? What story do you want to tell?

3. Treasure Hunt: Do you want a person, a certain place, or different things in your photo? Do you want to set up a photo shoot? You may want to gather items and stage your photo, or do a photo on the fly.

4. Create: Ready…set…go! Now it’s time for you to create your photo story.
