Film Storyboard

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

Have you ever wanted to make your own movie? Well here is your chance to create your own storyboard just like the film makers do! A storyboard is a graphic organizer that consists of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation and more.

Steps:

1. Image Search: Find/create a series of at least 5 photographs to tell your story (you can copy and paste these into a Word document).

2. Image Analysis: Analyze your photos: Examine every inch of the photographs. What is going on? Who is in the photo? Who is in the foreground? Who’s in the background? What is the landscape? What might be happening outside the frame?

3. Characters: Create your character(s): Are you one of the characters? Who are the others? How would you describe them? What are their relationships with one another?

4. Point of View: Choose what point of view you want to tell your story: First person “I” , Second Person “You” or Third person “He/She/They”.

5. Organize: Put the pictures in chronological order to reflect the story events.

6. Write: Write story captions below each picture to describe the characters and their actions. You might also include dialogue, figurative language and more.

7. Publish: Send your story board in a document, pictures or create a video and send us the link!
